The NZBDR complies with all relevant privacy and data regulations, including the Privacy Act 2020 and The Health Information Privacy Code 2020, The Health and Disability Commissioner (Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights) Regulations 1996, HISO 10029:2015 Health Information Security Framework, HISO 10064:2017 Health Information Governance Guidelines, and Digital and Data Technology Services (2020).
The Health and Disability Ethics Committees (HDEC) are independent committees established by the Minister of Health. The NZBDR is reviewed and ethically approved by HDEC. The NZBDR complies with clinical quality registry standards and is monitored to ensure it acts in accordance with its ethical approval.
Where you voluntarily provide personal information to the registry, we will only use your personal information for the purposes for which you gave it to us. Your information may be shared with, and held by, third-party contractors to the extent necessary for those contractors to provide website hosting and maintenance services. We will not disclose your personal information to other government agencies or other organisations without your consent, unless required by law.
The NZBDR is hosted by MedicAlert Foundation New Zealand on the MACM Platform. MedicAlert and their Macm Platform maintaining compliance with the SOC 2 Type 2 Information Security Framework and ISO: 27001 and is audited by accredited firms, along with following the principles and policies of the New Zealand Information Security Manual and Health Information Privacy Code (HIPC).
